Rogerian Argument

The Rogerian argument paper will probably be our hardest assignment in this class. I say this because this paper is going to require us to think in a way we normally don’t. We have to look at our debatable topic from the perspective of others. We have to take their point of view into consideration when writing this paper. We must know how we are going to handle our ‘naysayers” whether this is agreeing with them or giving them more evidence to support our own argument. We have to include these “naysayers” in our paper and respond to them. This paper must include ethos, pathos, and logos to effectively support our argument. We are required to follow the MLA format and must have at least 2000 words.

I was already thinking about my “naysayers” as I was picking my topic. My topic is very controversial and I have found that either people fully support breastfeeding or they are completely against it especially when discussing breastfeeding in public. Actually even mentioning my paper topic to friends and family I received several different opinions that could be very useful for me in this particular paper. My informative paper was about three different aspects of breastfeeding so figuring out how to incorporate “naysayers” for each point will be my hardest task for this paper. I’m excited to get started on this paper.

  1. Natasha,
You have really picked a great subject and I am sure there are many opinions on both sides. I just wish we had more young women writing on this subject, I totally understand if a young woman chooses not to breast feed, but blessings to the one that makes the choice to breast feed. I hope you are very successful with your paper.

  2. You are probably correct. This will be our hardest assignment yet. To be able to not only state our opinions, but state the inverse and then make the audience understand that our point is the best. Your topic is a fine topic. There is absolutely nothing wrong with women breastfeeding in public. Kudos to them for not being ashamed of something that is natural.

  3. You know guys I'm not sure if this paper will be the hardest as much as the most intricate as to the way of thinking, researching and using the methods we have learned thus far but but sure it will involve a much larger area of thinking toward our writing of it

  4. I agree that this assignment does seem like the most intimidating. I really hope to use my newly found research skills to find some good naysayers and really present a good paper. Good luck with yours as well!
