To Google or not to Google.

My essay is about the different struggles teachers and students face involving inclusion. So I wanted to research the struggles that many see when implementing this in the general education classroom. In order for me to provide an accurate analysis I had to understand the struggles and benefits of inclusion. When searching the internet I became very overwhelmed by all the searches google pulled up. Google provided me with 28 million search results and skimming over all of them proved to be quite the task. Many of the searched Googled pulled up for me were not useful. Many of these searches sent me to random websites that did not provide me with any information that I was seeking. When searching Kent library for the same phrase it pulled up only 200 searches, most of which were useful. Through Kent library I was able to find specific journals, magazines, books, and reviews about the struggles involving inclusion. I learned that while there are struggles when teaching a general education classroom involving inclusion there are also many benefits.
Overall, I think the use of Kent library is more effective than a Google search. Kent library may not provide you with as many results, but the results it does provide are typically more useful than Google. Less is more when trying to find reliable solid sources for any information you may be seeking.

  1. I completely agree and understand your statement about Kent library being better than Google. Google searches have their place, and are still my search engine of choice, but the amount of unrelated/useless items one has to weed through can be a difficult task. I actually was able to use Google for my search this time. Does Kent have an online search for their database or did you go to the library physically?

  2. Jason.. Kent library does have an online search option. If you log into your portal and click on the student tab on the right hand side you see a link that says kent library log in there and you will have full access!
