In the article The Real Loser: Truth, Kruse is writing about
how politicians try to make us believe everything they say even if it isn’t the
complete truth. We all know lies start small and progressively get larger and
larger and before you know it your little lie is a huge lie with little
truth. Every year politicians bend the truth in hopes to sway the voter’s
opinions on a particular person or situation. The Government seems to think if
you tell the people what they want to hear they won’t question it. It is up to us
the voters to decide what the truth is and what may be fabricated to make a
particular politician sound good! While these fabrications of the truth have
gotten worse through the years it seems the reporting agencies have put fact
checking to the side. Politicians almost feel entitled to fabricate the truth.
Sadly, they always will as long as people are being fooled and believing
everything they see without checking the facts.
While I should have been surprised or even disgusted as I
read this article, sadly I wasn’t. We see this every time there is an election.
We all know there isn’t truth to everything we hear, but we want to believe
there is especially when what’s being said is something we agree with. I really
enjoyed reading this article because it reassured me that I have every right not
to believe everything I hear especially during elections.

I'm glad you were already aware of the need to think independently and critically, and I hope this article not only reinforced that awareness but also pointed to some specific reasons for it and ways to do it. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteNatasha-
ReplyDeleteI get frustrated with all of the lies when election time comes around. The said thing is that many voters do take politicians for their word and vote for them without any questions. But it’s they say the truth hurts and that’s why it’s harder to tell. Good job!
